Proofreading for Businesses and Publishers

Proofreading for Business

The proofreading services I offer are as relevant for businesses as they are for publishers. Attention to detail is key. Having worked in marketing for many years I know how important it is that every document, brochure or webpage be error-free. Each project is different and I can work within very specific parameters when necessary to ensure your requirements are met. Recent examples of projects with unique guidelines include a ‘redlining’ task for BSI Group and proofreading of conversations as part of a new corpus project which Cambridge University Press and Lancaster University were working on together.

“Stacey was great to work with – not only was she quick at responding to our needs, but the work she returned was always to a high standard. The project she worked on for us involved adhering to very strict transcription conventions which Stacey managed to grasp straight away with very little extra help. Just what you want in a freelancer! I’d definitely recommend her; we’ll be keeping in touch with Stacey when other proofreading projects come up.” Olivia Goodman, Language Research Co-ordinator, Cambridge University Press

Proofreading of a company website and Capability Statement for a firm of civil and structural engineers was another such project with particular styles and guidelines to be followed.

If English is not your first language, not only should the work be grammatically correct but it also needs to accurately portray your message. Having studied French and German I understand the difficulties in finding the exact words to convey your meaning and whilst I don’t offer a translation service, I can help with clarity.

Whatever your specific requirements, please contact me for an initial chat to see if we can work together :

Proofreading for Publishers

A degree in business studies and languages along with a post graduate diploma in marketing means that I specialise in non-fiction books covering subjects as diverse as economics, finance, marketing, industrial relations, humanities and management. I would, however, be happy to tackle most subjects and have recently worked on a variety of devotional and religious texts. Publishers I have worked for recently include:

  • Christian Focus Publications
  • Cambridge University Press
  • Hodder & Stoughton
